How does the Stekker App work?

Stekker started as a consumer app back in 2019. Since then, we’ve learned a lot about controlling many different types of charge points and vehicles—and optimizing for factors like energy prices, solar production, and grid conditions.

Today, our app still works. It is used for our customers to set their charging preferences. Private individuals can still download the app in the App Store or Play Store to try out the Stekker platform at their home location for a limited amount of charge points.

Where Stekker Is Today

In 2025, Stekker primarily serves businesses and organizations managing large numbers of charge points. We help companies dealing with grid congestion, transport capacity limits, and feed-in costs. Our app, dashboard, and smart algorithms help businesses align their charging infrastructure efficiently with their energy situation and operational needs.

For business inquiries, contact us at [email protected]. Please note this is only for questions about commercial locations with multiple charge points. Due to high demand, we’re unfortunately unable to respond to support questions from non-paying app users.

Trying the App as an Individual

The app is still available for individuals who want to try Stekker. By connecting a compatible charge point or CPO to Stekker, individual chargers can be controlled intelligently.

Stekker works as a control layer on top of your existing technology—similar to how a smart thermostat sends instructions to a boiler or heat pump, while the device itself determines how to execute those instructions.

What Smart Charging with Stekker Enables

With Stekker, you can charge smartly while taking into account charging speed limits, preferred start and end times, solar energy availability, and verifiable reporting of your charging sessions.

The app gives you control over when and how your vehicle charges, optimizing for your priorities whether that’s minimizing costs, maximizing solar usage, or ensuring your car is ready by a specific time.
