How to Connect E-Flux with Stekker

E-Flux by Road is one of Stekker's key CPO partners. Learn how the integration works and how to get started with smart charging through E-Flux.

E-Flux by Road is one of Stekker’s most important integration partners. As a Charge Point Operator (CPO), E-Flux manages the communication layer between charging stations and the Stekker EMS, enabling smart charging for charge points managed through the E-Flux platform.

Getting Started for Businesses

To connect your E-Flux managed charge points with the Stekker EMS, you will need:

  • An active E-Flux by Road account with one or more charge points
  • Access to your E-Flux dashboard (Mijn E-Flux)

Stekker will work with you and E-Flux to set up the connection between your charge points and the Stekker EMS. For cloud-based setups, this typically takes one to two weeks. If an Edge module is needed for local monitoring, installation and configuration usually take two to four weeks. Get in touch with our team to get started.

Connect the Stekker App to E-Flux

Individual users can try smart charging for free using the Stekker app. To connect your E-Flux charge point:

  1. Download the Stekker app and create an account
  2. Tap Add charge point and select E-Flux as your CPO
  3. A pairing code will be displayed in the app
  4. Log into your Mijn E-Flux dashboard and navigate to Smart Charging
  5. Enter the pairing code from the Stekker app and activate
  6. Stekker is now ready to smart charge your E-Flux connected charge point

Once paired, Stekker will automatically optimize your charging sessions. Set your desired departure time in the app so Stekker can calculate the best charging windows for cost and sustainability.

How the Integration Works

Stekker controls EV charging by sending optimized charge schedules to E-Flux. The CPO then relays these instructions to the individual charge points at your location. This cloud-based approach means no changes to your existing hardware are required — if your charge points are already managed by E-Flux, Stekker can start optimizing immediately.

For locations with additional assets like solar panels, batteries, or complex grid connections, Stekker can also deploy an Edge module. This local device connects to your energy meters and other equipment, providing real-time metrics about on-site generation, consumption, and grid conditions. The Edge module feeds this data directly into the Stekker EMS, enabling smarter charging decisions based on what is actually happening at your location.

What Stekker Optimizes

Once connected through E-Flux, the Stekker EMS takes over charge scheduling and can:

  • Maximize self-consumption of locally generated solar energy
  • Stay within your contracted transport capacity (peak shaving)
  • Optimize for dynamic energy prices and market signals
  • Balance load across multiple charge points simultaneously
  • Prioritize specific vehicles or charge cards based on business rules
  • Respond to grid operator signals for congestion management
