Planetpod is building its own home battery storage solution and uses Stekker to provide a smart charging integration for EV chargepoints. Stekker ensures the Planetpod home battery can take any charging EVs into account, and vice-versa, so that storage batteries and EV batteries eventually both get charged most efficiently and for the lowest cost.
The Planetpod engine orchestrates when the home battery charges and discharges, Stekker provides an integration that takes into account the EV’s charging needs. All of this gets matched with on-site solar production, energy prices, grid capacity, and so on.
This means the battery can store excess solar energy during the day and release it for EV charging in the evening — or shift consumption to moments when energy is cheapest.
For Planetpod customers, this integration means their home battery and charge point are no longer separate devices competing for the same grid connection. Instead, they become a coordinated system that maximizes the value of local energy production while keeping the household within its contracted capacity limits.
