Below we explain what that is, why it&#8217;s required, and which chargers comply.<\/p>\n<h2>What is a MID meter?<\/h2>\n<p>MID stands for the <em>Measuring Instruments Directive<\/em> 2014\/32\/EU, a European directive for measurement instruments. A charger with a MID meter has a factory-calibrated kWh meter (EN 50470-3 Class B), whose readings are accepted as legally trustworthy by reimbursement providers and the Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa).<\/p>\n<p>Important: it concerns a MID meter <strong>built into the charger itself<\/strong>. An external MID meter in the meter cabinet is not accepted by most parties for reimbursement or ERE purposes.<\/p>\n<h2>Why is it required for ERE?<\/h2>\n<p>ERE rewards are calculated per kilowatt-hour you charge into your electric car. To prevent ERE rewards from being paid out based on estimated or inaccurate measurements, MID-certified measurement is the de-facto standard. The same applies to business kWh declarations: all major reimbursement providers in the Netherlands (Shell Recharge Hub, Travelcard, MultiTankcard, ANWB, Allego Home, Athlon Charge, MisterGreen) require a MID meter inside the charger.<\/p>\n<h2>Which chargers have a MID meter?<\/h2>\n<p>The list below is based on manufacturer sources and is valid for 2026. It varies between models per brand \u2014 pay close attention to the exact SKU when purchasing.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2705 MID-certified<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Easee Charge Max<\/strong> and <strong>Charge Pro<\/strong> (Class B, \u00b11%) \u2014 ERE-qualifying<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alfen Eve Single Pro-line<\/strong> and <strong>Eve Double Pro-line<\/strong> (built-in standard)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Zaptec Go 2<\/strong> and <strong>Zaptec Pro<\/strong> \u2014 Pro is also Eichrecht-compliant<\/li>\n<li><strong>Peblar Home Plus<\/strong>, <strong>Business<\/strong> and <strong>Business Pro<\/strong> (Class B)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ratio Electric io6 Pro MID<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mennekes AMTRON 4You 310<\/strong> and <strong>4You 560<\/strong>, <strong>Professional+<\/strong>, <strong>4Business 700<\/strong> XTRA\/PREMIUM<\/li>\n<li><strong>ABL eMH2<\/strong>, <strong>eMH3<\/strong>, <strong>eM4<\/strong> (Single\/Twin)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shell Recharge \/ NewMotion Home Advanced<\/strong> (from 2.0 onwards), <strong>Business Pro<\/strong>, <strong>Business Pro View<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>EVBox BusinessLine Gen4<\/strong> (S-Bus MID Class B)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u274c No MID \u2014 not suitable for ERE<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Easee Home<\/strong> and <strong>Charge Lite<\/strong> \u2014 note: Easee itself confirms these are not suitable for reimbursement. A common mistake since these are the most popular Easees<\/li>\n<li><strong>Zaptec Go<\/strong> (1st generation) \u2014 only Go 2 and Pro have MID<\/li>\n<li><strong>Peblar Home<\/strong> (basic) \u2014 measurement is &#8220;indicative&#8221;, not MID. Only Home Plus and higher<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ratio Electric io6<\/strong> (basic) \u2014 only io6 Pro MID<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wallbox Pulsar Plus \/ Pulsar Max \/ Commander 2 \/ Copper SB<\/strong> \u2014 no built-in MID. Wallbox offers an external meter accessory, but most reimbursement providers don&#8217;t accept it as a charger meter<\/li>\n<li><strong>EVBox Elvi<\/strong>, <strong>Livo<\/strong> \u2014 no MID. Additionally, EVBox is winding down operations end of 2025 \u2014 not recommended as a new purchase<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tesla Wall Connector<\/strong> \u2014 no MID, not suitable<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shell Recharge \/ NewMotion Home Standard<\/strong> \u2014 only Advanced and higher<\/li>\n<li><strong>ABL eMH1<\/strong> \u2014 only eMH2 and higher<\/li>\n<li>Various imported and budget chargers without MID label on the type plate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\ud83d\udccc Important to know<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Many popular chargers have a cheap basic variant without MID and a &#8220;Plus&#8221; \/ &#8220;Pro&#8221; \/ &#8220;MID&#8221; variant with MID. <strong>Buying the cheapest variant typically excludes you from ERE and business reimbursement.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Eichrecht (German chain regulation) is not required in the Netherlands, but it&#8217;s a plus \u2014 Eichrecht models also work fine for the Dutch market and are more future-proof.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In doubt? You&#8217;ll know immediately whether you qualify.<\/p>\n<h2>How do I know for sure if my charger has MID?<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Check the type plate<\/strong> on the charger \u2014 a MID meter has the marking: CE + &#8220;M&#8221; + year + 4-digit notified body number (e.g. 0122 for NMi, 0102 for PTB)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check the product page<\/strong> at the manufacturer \u2014 MID certification is a selling point and is explicitly mentioned in datasheets<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask the installer<\/strong> \u2014 at installation you receive documentation that mentions this<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sign up with Stekker<\/strong> and we&#8217;ll verify during your application<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>What if my charger doesn&#8217;t have a MID meter?<\/h2>\n<p>Unfortunately you can&#8217;t participate in ERE rewards yet. Your options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Replace the charger<\/strong> \u2014 this is the best option in most cases. A MID charger is often \u20ac100-\u20ac300 more than a non-MID variant, but pays itself back quickly via ERE rewards (~\u20ac243-\u20ac855 per year depending on charging behaviour)<\/li>\n<li><strong>External MID meter in meter cabinet<\/strong> \u2014 acceptable for some providers (the Wallbox route for instance), but Stekker and most reimbursement providers require the meter built into the charger.
