Stekker proudly shares that Steinar Henskes has been appointed as new managing director. With his roots in technology-driven companies, he brings exactly the kind of vision needed to take Stekker’s innovations to the next level. In this way Stekker can quickly make a bigger impact with grid-aware charging.
„Steinar has already meant a lot to Stekker on the sidelines over the past year,“ according to co-founder Eric-Paul Lecluse. „That he is now going to take on this role full-time is fantastic news for the team and the company, allowing the founders to focus more on the technology again without this being at the expense of the effectiveness and sustainability of the company.“
The new CEO is equally enthusiastic about his new mission. „Stekker is a club that consists of very smart people,“ he says about his appointment. „The current energy transition requires us to deal with electricity smarter, and Stekker is the best at smartly controlling charging stations. So now that there is a great necessity for smarter energy because of grid congestion, we at Stekker have the wind in our sails.“
Steinar brings extensive experience from the cleantech sector, where he previously built international companies at the intersection of technology and sustainability. He will now use this experience to scale up grid-aware charging.
„At the founding we paid a lot of attention to the technology and controlling as many different assets as possible. Now that we have focused our smart control of charging stations on grid congestion, there is room to help our customers as well as possible and look further over the horizon.“
Future-oriented
Charging electric cars is one of the heaviest loads on local power grids. And Stekker can control this based on real-time developments on the power grid or within a connection. Stekker can already make quite an impact with existing technology, now that the advanced control of charging stations is mature.
„We can now build out our solutions in such a way that they better connect to the latest developments in the market and technology,“ according to Steinar. „Such as the implementation of S2, OpenADR and other techniques or markets that enable the control of charging stations and other assets in a society-wide context.“
Stekker is positioned in this way to be able to control all kinds of assets – or even entire neighborhoods at once. A pilot project together with TNO, WePositive and other partners shows hopeful developments here.
He also looks forward to looking together with customers and partners at where the next steps lie in the area of usability and customer experience. „I very much look forward to accelerating the energy transition together with our partners. The full power grid is one of the most important challenges of this moment, and it’s great to be able to contribute to the solution at the forefront of this development.“
